There’s nothing quite like the day your Team Australia kit arrives. Pulling on the green and gold never loses its magic. It’s a reminder of the privilege of representing your country, but also of the people and stories behind every stitch.
This kit isn’t just fabric. For me, each logo printed here tells part of the journey, and the team that’s got me to this point.
Soggys of Sydney
At the bottom of the kit sits the Soggys of Sydney logo, a nod to my local training group and a few close mates (Mike, Matt and Anthony in particular) who’ve seen it all. They’ve been there for the good days, but more importantly through the lows of this injury block. They’re the ones who’ve dragged me to the pool on cold winter nights when motivation was nowhere to be found. I couldn’t ask for better people to share the grind (and laughs) with.
Wellness on Shore
Then there’s Wellness on Shore. If you’ve been following along, you’ll know how essential their role has been. This year hasn’t gone to plan, far from it. But their support has helped me find a way forward. From Lisa’s guidance in getting my core functioning correctly, to the whole team’s holistic approach, they’ve kept me focused, recovering, and believing. Without them, the setbacks would have more than likely derailed everything.
RPG
Right above sits RPG, and with it, Coach Reedy. I count myself incredibly fortunate to have his guidance. A lifetime as a top athlete, combined with decades of coaching elite professionals and top Age Groupers, has given him a wealth of knowledge. Somehow he manages to transfer that wisdom to us mere mortals with just the right mix of science, patience, and the occasional nudge when needed. His well-placed words of guidance have been pivotal in keeping me in the sport and still chasing goals.
Taylor + AUS
And finally, the part that matters most. My name alongside AUS. Every time I line up, I feel the weight and pride of representing not just myself, but my family, my friends, and everyone in my corner who’s reading this and has supported me through the highs and lows. To be racing for Australia in my home state of NSW this October is something I’ll never take for granted.
This kit tells a story, of community, support, perseverance, and pride. The journey hasn’t been smooth, but wearing the green and gold reminds me why it’s worth it.
