Over the past few months, I’ve shared a lot about my own recovery and the incredible support I’ve had from the team at Wellness On Shore. This week, I wanted to do something a little different, to introduce one of the people who’s been quietly helping me move, recover, and rebuild: Mauricio.
If you’ve been into the studio, you’ve probably heard his name already. He’s one of those people everyone talks about, not because he’s loud or flashy, but because he quietly makes a massive difference.
Mauricio is originally from Chile, where he trained as a physiotherapist and spent years working across both public hospitals and private clinics. Much of his time was spent helping athletes (from everyday runners to elite performers) overcome injury, manage pain, and regain confidence in their movement. That background gave him a solid foundation in anatomy, recovery and rehabilitation, but what really stands out is how he’s combined that expertise with a genuine passion for helping people feel better in their own bodies.
Since moving to Australia three years ago, Mauricio has brought that same calm, grounded approach to Wellness On Shore. Whether it’s through massage, mobility, or movement work, his goal is always the same, to help people move well, live pain-free, and rediscover confidence in what their bodies can do.
When we sat down for our chat, what struck me most was his philosophy. He believes in keeping things simple. “Simplicity,” he says, “is the key to making progress that lasts. It’s not about doing everything at once, it’s about doing the basics well, and doing them consistently.”
That really resonated with me. Over the past few months, I’ve been forced to strip my own training right back to basics. When you’re recovering from injury, it’s easy to overthink, overtrain, or chase the quick fix. But Mauricio’s approach is a reminder that real progress comes from patience, small steps, and the willingness to listen to your body.
A session with Mauricio is never just about easing tight muscles. It’s about understanding how the body moves, finding where things aren’t quite right, and working to restore balance. One minute you might be on the table, the next you’re up and moving through strength or control exercises — everything connects back to helping you move better in the real world. His physio background shines through in every cue and every explanation, but he still makes it all feel simple and accessible.
What I also admire about Mauricio is his humility. He told me, “Even today, I learn from my clients as much as they learn from me.” That openness is something you can feel immediately when you work with him — there’s no ego, just a genuine passion for helping people feel good and get better.
In my own sessions with him, we’ve been focusing on improving rotational mobility and control through my spine, a crucial piece of the puzzle for both cycling posture and everyday movement. The work is subtle, but it’s made a big difference. Like everything Mauricio does, it’s about building control and connection — not just temporary relief, but long-term function.
It’s easy to focus on the physical side of recovery; the miles, the workouts, the metrics. But what really makes the difference are the people you have around you. Mauricio’s mix of knowledge, empathy and simplicity has been a huge part of keeping me moving forward.
If you’re looking for someone who blends deep technical understanding with a practical, human approach to movement and recovery, I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
